This week has flown by and it’s been full of fun & food.

I went to a sushi restaurant with some of my gal pals for my birthday celebration and I legit ordered half the menu without even thinking twice. Each of the girls got like a salad or literally one sushi roll each. Just ONE. First of all, who even goes to a sushi restaurant and orders one thing? Like there is not nearly enough food in a tiny, 6 inch piece of seaweed to sustain my hunger. And second of all, I literally felt like a a glutinous pig eating next to them with my 2 appetizers, 3 sushi rolls, and obvi a dessert. The insane part? I WAS STILL HUNGRY.

You get my point, I eat a lot (#fitgirlproblems). Clearly, calories aren’t even an issue.

I feel like sometimes, though, my body needs some sort of reset or even a detox because if I’m being completely honest, I am not a perfect eater and my birthday (week) is a perfect excuse to eat whatever I want.

I don’t believe in those detoxes you get at CVS or even buy online from “famous” supplement companies for like a bajillion dollars, promising you quick weight loss and a flatter tummy or other ridiculous schemes. Personally, if I don’t know what every ingredient on the back of a pill bottle is, I’m not going to take it unless my doctor recommends it because doctors obviously know more than me.

I prefer a more natural type of reset for my body. And lately, I’m loving apple cider vinegar.

The health benefits of apple cider vinegar are endless.

♥ It can ease your upset stomach & digestive issues. Because of it’s antibiotic properties, apple cider vinegar can help lessen an upset stomach by ridding your body of harmful bacteria’s.

♥ Keeps you full longer. Studies have shown that drinking a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before eating will help you stay full longer and suppress any cravings.

♥ And the weirdest/coolest one of all? It cancels out some of the carbs you eat. Basically what that means is the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar impedes on the enzymes in your stomach that are responsible of digesting starch so you can’t absorb the calories from carbs you’ve eaten. (Source) Disclaimer: This doesn’t mean that you can eat all the bread you want and not gain weight as long as you’re drinking apple cider vinegar. There is no research to determine the exact amount of calories apple cider vinegar will block. So don’t eat double of the amount of carbs you usually eat and expect to lose weight.

This is just to name a few. Primarily, I benefit from staying full longer & helping with digestive issues. When you’ve eaten the way that I have the past several days, getting your digestive system back on track is key.

But y’all, I absolutely hate the taste of apple cider vinegar. SO MUCH. It’s cringe worthy. So I got inspired by The Skinny Confidential Pink Detox Drink and decided to make my own version of a semi-good-tasting detox drink/shot.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

3-4 tbsp. raw apple cider vinegar
1/2 lemon
1 tbsp raw honey
1 tsp ground ginger
pinch of cayenne pepper

HOW-TO

Add all ingredients into a cup and mix well.
You can either leave it as is or add 1-2 cups of water to dilute the taste.
Drink up!
I personally like just to drink it down really fast so I can move on to breakfast (LOL) but it’s entirely up to you!

Okay, so here comes the challenge. I’m going to drink one detox shot every morning for 14 days.
